Renos Papastavros

Music composer-sound designer

 

 

Renos Papastavros is one of the most acclaimed and multiple prize-winning composers, producers and sound designers in Greece in the field of visual arts and advertising.

 

After getting his piano diploma from the National Conservatory, he graduated from the music technology department of IEK AKMI school in 2002. In 2005 he started working in advertising, mainly at Central Athens Film Productions.

 

Within the next 11 years he composed versatile works, including music for documentaries (6 episodes for the History Channel production “Great Greeks” and 7 episodes for the OTE History production “those who dared”), feature films, theatrical plays (amongst others the production of Irvin Welshs’ “The Party” and “The Good Student” by Stephen King), video clips and animation clips. He also worked as a producer to albums of important Greek artists such as Marietta Fafouti and Mariza Rizou.

 

In advertising he has composed and/or designed the music for more than 350 commercials, some of it having been used for large scale European or international campaigns, such as the international campaign of the National Tourist Board (EOT). Amongst his advertising customers are Coca Cola, Adidas, Samsung, Hyundai, Cosmote, Vodafone, P&G.

 

In film production he has worked with important film directors, such as Y. Lanthimos, Ali Ali, M. Makridis, A. Papadimitropoulos, N. Iliades, V. Lyberopoulos.

 

From 2012 to 2018 he worked for the multiple prize-winning music and sound production company Musou Music and in 2016 he started a steady collaboration with the Thessaloniki Film Festival.

 

Since 2018 he has been working with Rabbeats Music as a composer, producer and sound designer.

 

In 2020 he composed the music for “Fragile Planet”, a short film by T. Tsibinis that was nominated for the “best soundtrack” category at Cannes Festival.

 

He has won 9 Hermes awards and an award for music at the FILME Festival for the film “Fawns” by T. Tsibinis.

 

He lives and works in Athens.
